Character name: Frederick “Fred” Abberline.

Occupation: Criminologist, Private Detective. Former Homicide Inspector.

Physcial description: 5 ft 10, long-ish dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, goatee and slender build. Wearing black pants, white shirt, black ashcroft, dark gray jacket, black shoes and bowler hat.

Personality: Clever and sarcastic, Inspector Abberline is known for his intense passion for crime-solving which is only over-shadowed by his addiction to opium. When it’s necessary, Abberline can remain sober enough to do his job, despite his addiction. However, years of seeing corruption within the English society, his numerous visions, and the loss of his wife have left him somewhat bitter about people. Astonishing enough, Abberline is quiet open about his visions and will not deny them.

Skills and abilities: Inspector Abberline is a clairvoyant who has visions of the future which he has used in his career in the past. As a inspector, he has a background in criminology and early forensics.

Flaws and weaknesses: Abberline’s major weakness is his addiction to opium which he does indulge in and will leave him in critical condition in untimely circumstances. He is also human and can be physically hurt and/ or killed as one.

Brief history: Fred Abberline was born into a middle class family in Blandford Dorset and received a standard education. When he was twenty, Abberline marries his wife Emma and joins the Metropolitan Police where his intuition and intelligence allow him to move quickly up the ranks to becoming an Inspector. After nine years of marriage his wife became pregnant but died giving birth to their first son.

To dull the pain of this loss, Abberline began smoking opium which actually helped him to have more in-depth and clear visions. In 1888 he began to have visions of gruesome murders taking place in London and as these murders became reality, Abberline and his friend Sergeant Peter Godley struggle to catch the killer before he strikes again. With the assistance of Mary Kelly, they discover the ones behind the murders and how it leads back to the royal family but also discover that they can do nothing to reveal these criminals.

After the supposed death of Mary Kelly, Abberline resumes his duties as an Inspector for a few years after the murders. He eventually left the force and fell out of the public eye, starting up a private detective business. It was shortly before July 1899 that Moriarty approached Abberline under the guise of Joseph Mansfield and hired him to locate some strange artifacts. Contact with Mansfield suddenly stopped shortly after until one day Abberline receives a letter from a man called Captain Nemo.
